When I create an event, maybe the page that relates to the event hasn't been created yet. I shouldn't have to go create that page first and then create the event. Just like with Confluence, you should have the ability to specify a page that doesn't exist, and the link should be rendered as a plus sign create page link. That way, the user can create the event, and then create the page that describes more about the event.
