There is currently a glaring feature omission in Jira in that it is impossible to create a dashboard portlet that shows a user all unresolved tickets that they are watching. The Voters and Watchers Custom Field plugin allows this, but only if each user configures their own custom filter. If the Voters and Watchers custom fields should be based on a User Picker and Group Searcher custom field type instead of the ordinary User Picker it would allow the creation of a shared filter searching on "Current User" which would make it possible to put a portlet that shows each user their own unresolved watches on the default dashboard.
