Important Stride and Hipchat update: Atlassian and Slack announce a new partnership

Atlassian Slack Partnership

Today, we're announcing a new strategic partnership between Atlassian and Slack. Millions of people around the world use Slack to connect their teams, unify their systems, and drive their business forward. As a result of this partnership, Atlassian is discontinuing all real-time communications products, and we are working with Slack to provide a migration path for Stride and Hipchat customers.

We will support Stride, Hipchat Cloud, Hipchat Server, and Hipchat Data Center until the following dates:

  • Stride and Hipchat Cloud until Feb 15, 2019
  • Hipchat Server and Hipchat Data Center until:
    • Hipchat Data Center (v3.0): 22 Jun 2019
    • Hipchat Data Center (v3.1): 26 Sep 2019
    • Hipchat Server (v2.1): 8 Dec 2018
    • Hipchat Server(v2.2): 30 May 2019
    • Hipchat Server (v2.4): 30 Jun 2020

How this affects you

We realize that this news is unexpected, and that you may need time to understand how this will affect your business. Here is some additional information related to this change:

  • Stride and Hipchat Cloud APIs, developer support, and Marketplace support tickets will remain available through Feb 15, 2019; Stride and Hipchat Cloud services will shut down after this date
  • Hipchat Server and Hipchat Data Center APIs, developer support, and Marketplace support tickets will remain available through the dates listed above; Hipchat Server and Hipchat Data Center services will shut down after this date
  • Effective today, we will only issue Stride or Hipchat product updates for security issues or critical bugs
  • There are no plans for Atlassian to migrate Stride or Hipchat apps to the Slack platform; we encourage you to explore Slack developer tools to learn more about building real-time communications apps using the Slack platform
