Get a holistic view of your service by linking its record in Jira Service Management and the corresponding Compass component, and quickly navigating between the two.
You can link one Compass component to only one service in Jira Service Management at a time. You can add the link either in Compass or in Jira Service Management, and a bidirectional link is automatically added from the other side.
The linking has the following effect:
In Compass, the link appears in the Jira Service Management field on the component's Overview page. Any incident events from Jira Service Management appear on Compass's component's activity feed.
In Jira Service Management, the link appears in the Compass field on the service's page and under the Affected services section on the service's associated incidents.
The bidirectional linking helps you make informed and meaningful investigations of your service when incidents occur by looking at additional data in Compass. In Compass, you can assess the incident:
across the activity timeline
in accordance with other events, such as commits and failed deployments
in the context of the component's dependencies
You can take your investigation further by:
finding who the owner team is and how to reach them
looking at metrics and scorecards to see if something is unusual
find links to the component's resources like run books and dashboards
