Code text marks include the code mark itself and the other text marks that may be used with it. No other marks are allowed when the code mark is present.
The flexible marks are compatible with both formatted text and code marks; however, they do not "bridge the gap". For example, link can be used with code or with strong, but the code and strong marks cannot be used together regardless of whether a link is also present. ↩↩2
