How do I import a workflow into a Jira cloud instance?

In order to import a workflow into a Jira cloud instance, the workflow (.jwb file) must be hosted on the Atlassian Marketplace.

To import a workflow into a Jira cloud instance:

  1. Log into the Atlassian Marketplace with your vendor account.
  2. Select Profile > Manage vendor account
  3. Select Create App
  4. Select Upload your app artifact(.jar, .obr, or .jwb) and upload your workflow in .jwb format.
  5. Give your app a name.
  6. Select Next: Make Public.
  7. Fill in the details for your app, including all required fields.
  8. Select Next.
  9. On the About app step, make sure you fill in the the More details field with a short description of what your workflow is intended for.
  10. For Categories, select Shared workflows and Workflow.
  11. Click Next.
  12. Select the layout, then select Next.
  13. Fill in a Release summary.
  14. For License, select Commercial - no charge.
  15. At the final steps, agree to the Atlassian Marketplace Publisher agreement and select Submit.

The app will enter into the approval queue where one of our Marketplace team will review your submission. Once approved, it will be available to import within a Jira Cloud instance:

  1. Go to Workflows (Settings > Issues > Workflows)
  2. Select Import on the top right, and then import Workflow.
  3. Search for the workflow that you've uploaded.
