How do I import a workflow into a Jira cloud instance?

In order to import a workflow into a Jira cloud instance the workflow (.jwb file) must be hosted on the Atlassian Marketplace. These steps outline this process:

  1. Navigate to the Atlassian Marketplace
  2. Make sure to create an account in marketplace first. Refer to the documentationfor more information
  3. Click on your Profile > Manage vendor account
  4. Click Create App
  5. Select Upload your app artifact(.jar, .obr, or .jwb)
  6. Upload your workflow in .jwb format.
  7. Take note of name field, which is the name of your app (workflow).
  8. Add compatibility for Jira at the bottom of this page. Cloud wont be an option. Proceed by clicking Next: Make Public.
  9. Fill in the rest of the form, make sure to fill in the required fields (fields with asterisk(*))
  10. Click Next on Get started step.
  11. On the About app step you must ensure that the More details is filled in, just a short description of what your workflow is intended for. Set two Categories, Shared workflows and Workflow. See screenshot below. Categories
  12. Click Next.
  13. Select the layout and click Next on page design step.
  14. Fill in a Release summary on version step. Select commericial - no charge License.
  15. At the final steps, agree to the Atlassian Marketplace Publisher agreement and click Submit.

Once submitted the app will enter into the approval queue where one of our Marketplace team will review the submission. Once approved it will be available to import within a Jira Cloud instance.

To import the workflow in your Jira cloud instance:

  1. Navigate to Workflows (Settings > Issues > Workflows)
  2. Click Import on the top right, and click import Workflow.
  3. Search for the workflow that you've uploaded.
