About the Atlassian Marketplace

The Atlassian Marketplace lets you share and sell your apps for Atlassian products. You gain access to our customer base, who can browse the Marketplace for apps to enhance the functionality of their Atlassian products, such as Jira or Confluence.

What are Atlassian apps?

Atlassian apps customize the experience of Atlassian products. You can use our development platforms to create an app for your team, or distribute your apps commercially by listing them on the Atlassian Marketplace.

The Atlassian Marketplace first launched in 2012. Less than a decade later, in December 2021, it surpassed $2 billion in lifetime sales.

Before listing your app

Before listing your app on the Atlassian Marketplace:

• Plan your market strategy.
• Understand how enterprise customers evaluate app security and trust.
• Choose a development option. You can build on cloud using Forge and Connect. For on-premise apps, you can build on Data Center.

Meet the Marketplace requirements

By listing an app in the Marketplace, you must also comply with our terms of use and branding guidelines.  

• Marketplace Partner Agreement between Atlassian and you as a partner.
• Atlassian brand guidelines for how you can represent your company and your apps in relation to Atlassian.
• Marketplace Terms of Use between Atlassian and your app customers. Your customers agree to the terms when they purchase or use your app.

Submit your app listing

When you're ready to launch your app, submit your listing for review. Depending on the development platform, there are different listing requirements.

Grow your app business

Some of the benefits of listing your app on the Atlassian Marketplace include:

• Income stream: It’s in our best interest to help you generate income from your app, and vice versa. Access to high-quality apps helps us market our products, and our flexible products help market your apps.
• Customer base: Atlassian has a huge customer base, and when they look for an app for their Atlassian product, they're routed straight to Marketplace.
• Ease of trial and purchase: Customers can try or buy your apps directly from their product instance via the Universal Plugin Manager (UPM).
• Support: Customers can pay for your app via Atlassian, and use Atlassian Marketplace licensing support at my.atlassian.com.
• Simplified checkout: Your app is available for purchase through our purchasing system. We help you set pricing, and then take care of the rest.
• Continual investment: Like other app stores, we take a share of the revenue from your app sales, which we use to run the Atlassian Marketplace and reinvest in our development ecosystem.
• Regular updates to customers: We tell your customers when there is an upgrade or update opportunity for your app, right inside their Atlassian host product.

Choose your payment model

There are three app payment models you can choose from on Marketplace:

• Free
• Paid via Atlassian, or
• Paid via Vendor

Each payment model provides different benefits.

Support your customers

If you offer support for your app, the Get support button appears on the Support tab on your app details page.

This tab also lists other resources including documentation links, issue trackers, forums, and more. App customers are discouraged from writing reviews to get support, and should instead contact Marketplace partners directly.

• Learn about the Marketplace Partner Program.
• Stay updated across all Atlassian communication channels, including events and emails.
• Submit a ticket for Developer and Marketplace support.

Access the Partner Portal

The Partner Portal is the place to be for all the resources and the updates around Atlassian ecosystem.

• Frequently updated by our Solution and Marketplace Partner teams.
• Available on mobile via the Confluence app.
• Comment, engage, or directly ask our team a question.

Eligibility

Marketplace Partners with at least one paid-via-Atlassian app and a a private domain email address are eligible for Partner Portal access. We cannot approve submissions from public domain addresses such as those from Google or Yahoo.
