Create your Marketplace listing and link your Forge app

Build your app's Marketplace listing, add compliance and policy information, link your Forge app, and configure distribution settings so it's ready for review.

OUTCOME: By the end of this phase, you should have:

  • Marketplace listing created with name, description, category, and visual assets
  • Compliance and policy information (privacy policy, EULA, scopes, pricing) added to listing
  • Forge app linked to the listing with distribution enabled
  • Technical distribution settings configured and install path validated on a fresh site

1. Create the Marketplace listing

What to do
  • Create a new app listing in the Marketplace Partner portal (Cloud hosting)
  • Fill in metadata: name, tagline, category, supported products, languages
  • Write a long description covering problems solved, benefits, features, and use cases
  • Select appropriate app categorization
  • Upload visual assets (logo, screenshots, optional demo video)
Why this matters

Your listing is your storefront. A clear description with accurate categorisation determines whether customers find your app in search, and whether they install it once they do.

Resources

2. Add compliance and policy information

What to do
  • Add links to your privacy policy, EULA/terms, documentation, and support contact
  • Complete the security & privacy tab information
  • Document and explain minimal scopes and data access in the listing
  • Add license and pricing information
Why this matters

Incomplete compliance information will block your review. Enterprise customers also check the security and privacy tab and scope justifications before approving an install. Thorough documentation directly supports successful customer evaluations.

Resources
What to do
  • Confirm distribution is enabled for your Forge app
  • Ensure the app key (unique identifier for the Marketplace listing) is mapped to the correct Forge app
  • If using editions, configure edition publishing
Why this matters

A misconfigured app key or disabled distribution means customers can't install your app even after listing approval. This is a common and easily avoidable blocker.

Resources

4. Configure technical distribution settings

What to do
  • Validate install path and licensing behavior
  • If applicable, configure AGC (Atlassian Government Cloud) app publishing
  • Review app version listing options (Java/REST)
  • Test installation on a fresh site
Why this matters

Reviewers test on clean sites, so your install flow, licensing, and version listing all need to work correctly outside your development environment. Testing in a clean environment before submission gives you the best chance of a smooth review.
