Register as an Atlassian Marketplace Partner

Set up your Atlassian organization, enroll as a Marketplace Partner, and configure the roles, access, and security foundations needed before you can list an app.

OUTCOME: By the end of this phase, you should have:

  • A verified Atlassian organization with admin access
  • Marketplace Partner enrollment completed (agreement, due diligence, 2SV)
  • Partner roles and permissions configured for your team
  • Awareness of security requirements and how they differ across Partner Program tiers

1. Create and verify your organization

What to do
  • Create/verify company Atlassian account and organization profile
  • Prepare company information and documentation
  • Ensure organization admin access
  • Ensure the developer space is correctly setup for the corresponding Marketplace partner account.
Why this matters

Your organization is the identity behind everything you publish. Getting it right now avoids ownership and access issues later when you're trying to list or transfer an app.

Resources

2. Enroll as a Marketplace Partner

What to do
  • Enroll as a Marketplace Partner on the Atlassian Marketplace
  • Accept Marketplace Partner Agreement and Terms of Use
  • Complete partner due diligence process
  • Enable 2-step verification for security partners
Why this matters

Enrollment is a prerequisite for listing any app. The due diligence and verification steps can take time, so starting early prevents last-minute delays when you're ready to publish.

3. Configure partner roles and access

What to do
  • Assign roles for Primary, Support, Licensing/Finance, Security, Marketing, Engineering, and Sales Support
  • Configure permissions on vendor account
  • Set up team access to partner portal
  • Get access to the Marketplace and Developer Support portal
Why this matters

Setting up roles early means the right people can manage support tickets, billing, security reviews, and listings without bottlenecking on a single admin.

Resources

4. Complete partner security requirements

What to do
  • Review security requirements for partners
  • Set up secure development and release processes
  • Familiarize yourself with Marketplace Partner Program tiers (Silver, Gold, Platinum), especially security requirement differences across tiers.
Why this matters

Security requirements escalate as you grow through partner tiers. Understanding the baseline now, and where the bar rises, lets you build secure practices from the start.
